The History of Sali
Formed in Atlanta Georgia on
November 18, 1983 The Stencil Artisans League, Inc.
was officially incorporated the following January.
SALI held it's first convention in 1986. Since then, membership has
grown from 200 to over 3500 and in kind, their SALI Conventions
have also expanded. This year's convention is offering over 83
classes at a variety of skill levels, taught by other accomplished SALI
members as well as internationally recognized artisans. Members
come together for five days of sharing, teaching, learning and networking.

Sali Convention 2008

The Chapters have taught school children and Brownie troops and donated
to the Toys for Tots. Each month the chapters teach each other the various
crafts of stenciling, faux finishing and other decorative arts as well as learn
about new products. Each member who can attend a convention shares that
knowledge with other members who could not. The chapters hold monthly meetings,
extra workshop, take trips to observe other decorative artists' work and in general
network for a deeper knowledge of the arts.
Most chapters also have lending libraries containing
tapes and books for the use of their members.
